The mission of the Nauvoo Public Library is to provide materials and services for community residents of all ages for personal enrichment, enjoyment and educational needs. The library is dedicated to providing practical access to all forms of media. Programs will be developed to stimulate children’s interest and appreciation for reading and learning.
Summer Reading 2021:
Reading Colors Your World!
This year is all about color! Join us for some colorful, socially distanced programs and take home a colorful craft project every week, all while earning fun prizes for reading! Sign up starts May 26th at the library.
America the Beautiful! - June 10th @ 2:00 PM
Meet us for a fun, art-filled afternoon! Every family will paint their very own American Flag on canvas, in honor of Flag Day! To remain socially distanced, we will be meeting outside, one family to a table, and everyone will be provided their own art supplies to minimize sharing. Location to be determined, due to a scheduling error, but stay tuned on our Facebook page for a finalized location.
Panda Party! - July 22nd @ 2:00 PM
Meet us for a craft-filled panda party! Paint a panda on canvas, learn some panda facts, and create your own panda snack! Again, final location to be determined and announced on our Facebook page in a few weeks.
Every Wednesday will be a Story Time video on our Facebook page. New stories every week!
Every week in June and July will be a Take Home Craft!
Stop by the library anytime during that week to get a craft bag filled with all the supplies you will need to do that week’s craft! For extra fun, tune in to our Facebook page for an instructional video on how to do the project! Many colorful crafts planned!
If you complete the activity sheet that you will receive at sign up, you can earn a free custard coupon from our very own custard store in town. Make sure to thank Helen, the owner of Annie’s Custard for the donation!
Rubber Ducky Club
For Children 3 and under. New Activities every month.
We are Open!
Nauvoo Public Library is now reopening in a reduced capacity starting Monday, April 26th! We will be allowing two patrons on a computer at one time, as well as one person or family in the stacks at a time. It is strongly suggested that you call ahead to make an appointment to ensure availability. We will still accept walk ins, but there is no guarantee we won’t already be at capacity. Masks will be required to enter. Doors will remain locked to ensure we do not exceed capacity, so please knock and your librarians will let you in. Curbside is still available if anyone prefers that method. We are excited to see everyone again!
Temporary cards for e-books
In other good news, the Illinois State Library has relaxed their definition of “non-resident” during these times solely for the use of e-resources. In other words, this means we can currently give out temporary cards to those living outside city limits, but only for the use of e-books. After we reopen completely and resume business as normal, these cards will become inactive unless the usual non-resident fee is paid. If you are interested in taking advantage of these temporary cards for use of our e-books, please contact the library.
Our weekly virtual Story Time will be on our Facebook page every Wednesday at 10:30 AM.
