The mission of the Nauvoo Public Library is to provide materials and services for community residents of all ages for personal enrichment, enjoyment and educational needs. The library is dedicated to providing practical access to all forms of media. Programs will be developed to stimulate children’s interest and appreciation for reading and learning.
Hello, all! Hope your school season is getting off to a great start! If you need any extra educational books or just something fun to read for yourself, stop in anytime! I’m also pleased to announce a book signing event on Friday, Sept. 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Mary Ann Weakley, a former nun from St. Mary Monastery will be speaking about and signing her memoir, Monastery to Matrimony, a book about her twenty years in the community, her decision to leave, and later marry. While in Nauvoo, she will also be doing research for her next book about Sister Aloysia Beecher who was born in Nauvoo in 1872. So feel free to stop in on Friday, September 2nd to meet her, ask her questions about her experiences, and pick up a copy of her memoir!
It's back to school season, and the library has a new librarian! My name is Amber Bevier, and I'm thrilled to be taking over care of the library here in Nauvoo! Programs such as Book Club and Wednesday's Story Hour are still in place, so feel free to come join us! I will update you on other activities and programs as they come up. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope to see you soon!
