Mission Statement

The mission of the Nauvoo Public Library is to provide materials and services for community residents of all ages for personal enrichment, enjoyment and educational needs. The library is dedicated to providing practical access to all forms of media. Programs will be developed to stimulate children’s interest and appreciation for reading and learning.

June 10th @ 11:30AM-6:30PM - Hancock County Clinic Mobile Unit Parked in the Nauvoo City Center parking lot all afternoon will be Hancock County Clinic’s Mobile Unit! Get a tour from health professionals and enjoy a healthy snack!

June 14th @ 2:00 PM—NASA in Nauvoo! Black Holes Join us in the library activity room for the latest space information from a NASA JPL volunteer followed by a fun space-themed craft!

June 26th @ 2:00 PM - Abe the Eagle: Art Program! Join us in the big central room of Nauvoo City Center for an art experience centered around  a Civil War eagle named Old Abe, and learn how to make hardtack like a soldier!

July 8th @ 11:30AM-6:30PM—Hancock County Clinic Mobile Unit Parked in the Nauvoo City Center parking lot all afternoon will be Hancock County Clinic’s Mobile Unit! Get a tour from health professionals and enjoy a healthy snack!

July 9th @ 2:00 PM - Internet Safety Talk With Officer Jason from the Illinois State Police Join us in the central room at the City Center for a talk with Illinois State Police Officer Jason! He will tell us about the latest in internet safety that all parents and kids should know! Stay after to ask questions!

July 12th @ 2:00 PM—NASA in Nauvoo! Lifespan of a Star Join us in the library activity room for another NASA presentation and craft!

July 16th @ 2:00 PM—Adult and Children Presentation: “Walk with You: The Story of Dred Scott and the Blow Family of Virginia.” Join us in the central room at Nauvoo City Center to listen to a very special, and often humorous, presentation on an all-true, historic story that connects Abraham Lincoln, Nauvoo, and Dred Scott!

July 22nd @ 2:00 PM—Mad Science of St. Louis: Up, Up, and Away! Join us in the central room of Nauvoo City Center for an exciting demonstration about the science of air! See some MAD science, witness the power of air, and ride a hoverboard after!

Every week in June and July will be a Take Home Craft! Stop by the library anytime during that week to get a craft bag filled with all the supplies you will need to do that week’s craft!

Every Wednesday will be Story Time at the library from 10:00- 10:30 AM.
